Fjörðurinn shopping centre

One of Iceland's most complex buildings — one integrated fire system, no unnecessary evacuations.

Shops, restaurants, a hotel, healthcare, apartments and parking — all under one roof in Hafnarfjörður. During a major extension the fire alarm system was upgraded and integrated with the older system while the building remained in full operation.

Volt handled design, equipment sales, programming, overview drawings, inspections and after-delivery service. Precise zoning and cause & effect controls ensured stable operation without unnecessary evacuations.

New build — no compromise

Black Sand Hotel

100% right from day one — a new hotel where safety could not fail.

A newly built hotel where no compromise on safety was allowed. Volt handled fire-safety design, equipment sales, programming, overview drawings and inspections, in close coordination with other contractors and designers.

The result is a reliable, modern fire alarm system that meets strict safety requirements and supports professional hotel operations.

School — installed outside school hours

Fjölbrautaskóli Garðabæjar

An independent fire alarm system installed without disturbing the school day.

This state-owned secondary school previously relied solely on its sprinkler system. Volt handled design, equipment sales, programming, drawings, inspections and after-delivery service — with installation mostly outside school hours.

The final solution provides a reliable, independent fire alarm system with clear oversight for staff and false alarms kept to an absolute minimum.

Wireless system in an older building

Kormákur og Skjöldur

Certified fire protection without touching the interior — installed after the shop had opened.

In this heritage retail space no visible cabling was allowed, and installation took place after opening. Volt solved it with a wireless fire alarm system that meets all certification requirements without disturbing the look of the space.

The client particularly praised how little the daily operation was disturbed, the speed and organisation of the work, and the reliability of the solution.

Protected building — no intervention

Alþingi – Skúlahús

Modern fire protection in Parliament's protected building — no drilling, no visible cabling.

Skúlahús has great cultural value, and renewing its fire alarm system required full respect for its protected status. Volt replaced the old system with a modern wireless solution — no drilling or visible cabling.

The solution combines modern fire protection with respect for the building's history, meeting Parliament's strict requirements for reliability and trust.

Years of trust — and a system that grows with the hotel.

Volt has serviced the hotel's fire protection for years. For the current extension, Volt handles programming, overview drawings and user interface, inspections and delivery, in close cooperation with the contractor.

The solution is designed for future integration with the older part of the hotel — a future-proof investment in fire safety.
